Six Questions with the Twins Geek
Today I am posting another Six Questions with a Twins blogger. You
all know John Bonnes. He is The Twins Geek. I
believe he has been referred to by some as “The Godfather” of Twins bloggers.
John has been great to this site for a long time and he is also a genius in the
blogging community. His role with Gameday Magazine
has expanded his voice in the Twins community. I know,
I need to stop writing and just get right to my questions so that you can read
his answers. OK. But first, John answered these questions before the Delmon Young acquisition, so for his thoughts on that deal
and much more, head over to The Twins Geek site.
SethSpeaks: You’re the GM, what do you do about Johan Santana? To trade, or not to trade? If your answer is “To Trade”,
what would it require in return to make it happen?
John Bonnes: I shop him. It would require three players, including
two high ceiling players that are at least in AA ball right now. They do
NOT need to be ready to step into major league roles right now.
SethSpeaks: The Twins have been hesitant in the past to trade young pitchers.
It sounds like that theory may be somewhat altered this offseason. Are there
any of the Twins young pitchers that you would call untouchable?
John Bonnes: Nope. Liriano is the closest to
untouchable, but there's enough doubt in his health history that I would move
him for the right offer.
SethSpeaks: As of today, where would you rank the Twins in the AL Central?
John Bonnes: Second to Clevelend. And I think
they're closer that people think to them.
SethSpeaks: What would you consider the top three things that the Twins need
to do this offseason?
John Bonnes: 1. Add offense. 2. Add
offense. 3. Add offense.
SethSpeaks: On a scale of 1
to 10, how confident are you that Bill Smith will be able to do the things that
the Twins need to compete?
John
Bonnes: 7 - We have so little evidence on him so far, and my opinion is
split. I'm just plain puzzled by the fact that the Twins have all this
money for this year and aren't involved with any of the free agent rumors.
SethSpeaks: Tell us a little about what you do on your blog, where we can find
it and what you write about during the offseason?
John Bonnes:
TwinsGeek.com - You'll find links to my posts there
and links to the posts of most of the other bloggers, too, whether your
interest is baseball, football, basketball or hockey.
Thank you to John Bonnes and to all the readers for stopping by this site. If you have any questions, comments or ideas for future postings, please e-mail me.
