Monday Morning Update

Hey everyone! I don’t really have a lot today. I did post my thoughts on Torii Hunter signing with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday, so be sure to check that out.  Here are just a couple of quick bullet points. I do have a couple of postings ready for the next couple of days, so be sure to come back!

·         Bob Nightengale is right up there, in my opinion, with Ken Rosenthal in terms of having great inside baseball information. However, he has an incredible article about the last couple of weeks in the life of Torii Hunter. It is interesting to read the thoughts of some of the people directly involved in his negotiations with other teams and some of the people that tried to convince Torii to play for their team.

·         Of course, everyone has an opinion on the Torii Hunter signing. I hate to pick a couple out, but I would just encourage you to go to the Twins blogs on the left side of this screen for plenty of opinion on the subject.

·         Pat Neshek is down in Florida preparing for the 2008 season. He has also been able to write on his blog a bit more. First, he had another Game Used Auction. But he also recently signed 1,000 certified cards for Topps that will be inserted into 2008 packs (unsure which set). It was incredibly interesting to read how it all worked and get his thoughts on it. It’s so fun to read this kind of stuff from someone who truly cares about fans and collectors!

·         Over at John Sickels site, there is an interesting diary on potential trade partners for Johan Santana.

·         At www.mlbtraderumors.com, there is an interesting discussion on the rumored Matt Garza for Delmon Young discussions. The Comments are very interesting.

·          Thanks to Blogonoscopy, but this is hilarious!

·         The Vikings Defense had quite a day against the NY Giants. I was surprised by how dominant the team was all-around, even the offense. Tavaris Jackson was good. Chester Taylor was at least solid. The defense returned three interceptions for touchdowns which is amazing. They are 5-6 and the schedule is pretty weak the next three weeks (although I have to believe that the Lions are better than they have played lately!). Could this team really still be in playoff contention? Probably not, but it would be cool!

·         Devon Hester. He’s good.

·         Kurt Warner – you’re in the end zone, you don’t have all day to find a receiver!

·         AJ Feeley may have made himself a little money!

That is it for today. If you are hearing any Twins rumors, please be sure to let me know. Send me an e-mail on such things, or if you have ideas for future blog postings. Have a great week!
