40 Man Roster Update
The Twins just added three players to their 40 man roster. They
are sitting at 39, and there are several players that I think could still be
added! But, Matt Macri, Bobby Korecky
and Matt Tolbert can all breathe a little easier as each of them was added. Macri is a good addition. I think that he showed in the AFL
that he can hit and has some pop. I think that he will have a shot to stick
with the Twins if they don’t pick up another 3B. Tolbert was a relatively easy
choice. He is the type of player that generally gets picked in the Rule V
draft. He may be given a shot at the Twins 2B job. Korecky
is the guy that surprises me a bit. He did a nice job as the Rochester closer
this year, racking up saves. But like Cleveland’s Joe Borowski,
he was quite hittable. But then again, so was Levale Speigner, and he was taken in the Rule V draft. I am ok with
Korecky being added and he may be given a shot at a
long relief job out of spring training. He is 28 years old, so now is his time.
Tolbert and Macri are both 25. More
information to come as I receive it. I have heard rumors that the Twins
are trying to sign Brian Bass to a contract and if they are able to, they would
add him to the 40 man roster. Rosters need to be in by midnight. Any thoughts,
please feel free to e-mail me.
