TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE

Hello everybody. Last night was our first night of volleyball league. I'm sore! I'm old! Anyway, I didn't get to posting the Q&A that I promised, but it will be up by tomorrow morning.

I did want to quickly update the NFL "Expert" Panel's picks and standings though this morning. After a great Week 5, we struggled a bit in week six. Although Will Young put on a show and jumped up to second place! Despite an 8-5 week, Kyle Waldrop gained on the two guys he was directly leading, but Will's impressive week kept Waldrop's lead a top the league at three games.

By the way, take a couple of minutes and check out some of those links in the standings. There are some great writers in the group. You'll want to check out Bill Ferris's Tiger's Blog to see the excitement in that team!

MONDAY EVENING UPDATE -

Just thought I'd check in, see what was going on. I had to give a couple of presentations this afternoon, so wasn't up on the news. Did you see that the Oakland A's fired manager Ken Macha despite their run to the ALCS? That is just crazy. They did it with two years remaining on his contract, so there must be something more. Joe Torre must be really considering himself lucky!

And, if getting all the way to the World Series is a prerequisite to maintaining your job, how is Ron Gardenhire feeling right now?

Also, it appears that Lou Pinella will be hired as the Cubs next manager. According to the Yahoo article, "His assignment: Get to the playoffs and win a championship with a franchise that hasn't been to a World Series since 1945 and hasn't won one since 1908." Hey Lou, good luck with that!!!
