Burnett Pitches Miracle to Second Round

Thanks to some excellent pitching and a few timely hits, the Ft. Myers Miracle beat Dunedin 3-1 in this game and 2-0 in this series. The Miracle will now have to wait a little bit to find out who they will play in the championship series. Daytona and Palm Beach were postponed by rain on Tuesday night. Tonight, Daytona scored six runs in the top of the 8th to take a 9-8 lead. (Game still in progress)

But the story for the Miracle in this game was the pitching of Alex Burnett. The young righty threw six shutout innings. He allowed two hits. He walked three and struck out three. Blair Erickson came in and in two innings gave up an unearned run. Anthony Slama came on and got the save despite allowing a walk and a hit.

Unlike Game 1, the offense was spread out in this game. Eight Miracle hitters had one hit a piece. The team took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Whit Robbins led off with a double. One out later, he scored on a single by Johnny Woodard. Woodard stole second and later scored on a double by Juan Portes. The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh. Yancarlos Ortiz singled, then stole second base. He scored on a Wilson Ramos single.
