Tosoni Leads Way in Miracle Win

Rene Tosoni provided all of the offense that the Ft. Myers Miracle would need in their 2-1 victory over Dunedin in Game 1 of their first round Florida State League playoff series. Tosoni, who just came back last week from injury went 2-2 with two walks and a two run home run in the game. Whit Robbins went 2-4 in the game.

Cole DeVries got the nod for the series opener. The former Gopher came up big with 6.2 innings of shutout ball. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out three. 2008 first rounder Carlos Gutierrez came in and got four outs without allowing a run. Now, taking a 2-0 lead into the ninth inning sounds like a pretty sure thing when the Miracle can bring Anthony Slama into the game. But the team's closer gave up a home run to the first batter of the inning. Slama struck out the batter in between two singles he allowed. But fortunately, he got a ground ball to the sure-handed Steve Singleton who started the game-ending double play.

The same two teams will play again on Wednesday night at 6:05 (central time).
