Face of the Franchise
Hi again! Got an e-mail this morning from ESPN.com telling me that they have posted a Face of the Franchise series on the ESPN Sports Nation. A while back, I was asked to answer who that player was for the Twins. Now, if you go there today, you will see what ESPN.com's Rob Neyer thinks, who his choice for Twins Face of the Franchise is. As you can then tell, they asked one of the local beat writers to give their opinion, one blogger (me) and then one of the Baseball Tonight baseball experts. Responses will be posted throughout the week. My comments will be posted there on Wednesday. (Note, as you will be able to see, when you click the link to go to the page, it defaults to the Braves page, but you are able to click on the Twins icon, or any other team's icon, to get there)
I think it is a terrific question and topic for discussion, especially with the Twins. Is the Twins face of the franchise:
The two-time Cy Young Award Winner?
The 2006 AL MVP?
The local boy turned AL Batting Champ?
The web gem frequenting mouth piece?
Is it a group of little guys with a nickname?
The fiery manager?
The frugal owner?
Is it someone else?
The beauty of the discussion and of being a Twins fan right now is that there are several legitimate options. ESPN's series is just really timely. So head over there. Make your selection and feel free to comment.
I will withhold my comments until Wednesday when they post my essay on the site, but I would love to hear your thoughts already. We can see how many agree or disagree with me.
