A Little R & R

Hey everyone, just wanted to leave a quick note to say that I am heading out of town for a couple of days. A little mini-vacation. I'm not even bringing a computer with me. So, I am going to count on the readers of this site to keep the site going. If one of the minor league games finishes, post a few highlights if no one else has already. And then discuss. Discuss all kinds of topics, whatever you would like (within decency standards, of course!). And if there are any good links to blogs or articles, be sure to share them as well.

Joe Nathan just got the final out of a 4-3 win over the Padres, giving the Twins their third straight series sweep and a nine game winning streak. Scott Baker started and gave up three runs in the first three innings, but he settled in and went six. Then the bullpen went to work to hold the lead. Jesse Crain, Dennys Reyes, Craig Breslow, Matt Guerrier and Nathan went the final three innings. Justin Morneau remains red hot. He went 3-4 with three RBI, including two on his 12th home run, which tied the game. Mike Redmond was the only lineup switch, but of course Gardy had him bat third... which I keep saying is silly, but he keeps coming up with two hits. Brian Buscher also had two hits and drove in the other run. Another good win. Another good series. The Brewers will be coming to town for three games in what should be a fun series. I will be coming back to the cities on Saturday morning and going to the Twins games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Since I have a couple of minutes before I leave, I'm just going to check the minor league scoreboard for today. I see that New Britain got beat 13-5 today to New Hampshire. Another bad outing for Anthony Swarzak. It is getting to the point where you have to wonder if he isn't hurting in some way. He gave up eight runs on ten hits and two walks in just 3.1 innings. Yohan Pino appears to be back as he gave up just one run in 3.2 innings. He could soon be back in the rotation. Frank Mata then gave up three runs on three hits and three walks in one inning. Rob Delaney threw a scoreless inning. Hey, 1B Toby Gardenhire went 3-5. Erik Lis had another double, his 29th. Dustin Martin had a single, his fourth triple and his fifth home run in the game. Drew Butera had two hits including his third homer.

Have a great weekend!! And again, please keep the discussion going.
