3 More Promoted to Ft. Myers
Well, I think the Ft. Myers offense is about to be helped out, hopefully significantly. Three more members of the Beloit Snappers were promoted to Ft. Myers after last night's game. 3B Danny Valencia, 1B Johnny Woodard and 2B Brian Dinkelman were all moved up a level, and all three definitely deserved it. Of course, the lone remaining question is how long with Jeff Manship remain in Beloit before he is promoted.
Valencia was hitting .302/.374/500 with 15 doubles, 11 homers and 35 RBI. Woodard was hitting .276/.398/.478 with 11 doubles, 10 homers and 31 RBI. Dinkelman was hitting .283/.373/.488 with 16 doubles, six triples, seven homers and 21 RBI. He was also 10 for 10 in steal attempts.
Also, how will this affect the Miracle? Well, it should help the offense certainly. However, will some players be sent back to Beloit? Will anyone more up to New Britain? Could someone (or two) be released? How will playing time be allocated in the infield between Valencia, Dinkelman, Woodard, Whit Robbins, Juan Portes, Steven Tolleson, Toby Gardenhire, Matt Betsill and 28 year old Luis Ugueto? Some have got to go? And, does this mean that Paul Kelly will move to Beloit when he is deemed 100% healthy?
As I've mentioned, I'll be out of town this weekend again, until Sunday evening. So, please use the Comments below to not only discuss this move, but if you read/hear anything on any further minor league transactions, please mention them here (and provide a link if possible). Also, I hope to do the minor league updates from here as well. Have a good weekend!
