Monday Game Notes

Ft. Myers won on Monday which gives them the 1st Half title, so I would expect we will be hearing about a few promotions right away. The promotions will be based on New Britain needs, as I am certain that the Twins would like to be represented at the Florida State League All-Star game. So those promotions will likely come right after that game.

Twins Update

Monday Afternoon - Twins 5, White Sox 7

Any Twins thoughts?

Twins Minor League Updates

Monday SethSpeaks Player of the Day – Ben Revere, Beloit Snappers
Monday SethSpeaks Pitcher of the Day – Brian Duensing,
Rochester Red Wings

You will want to head over to John Sickels' Minor League blog and read his Controversial Prospect Update: Tyler Robertson posting. It is interesting and it's probably fair to say that I am higher on him than most.

ROCHESTER REPORT
Monday – Rochester 4, Lehigh Valley 1 Brian Duensing was excellent again in this start. The lefty threw seven shutout innings allowing just five hits. He walked none and struck out three. Bobby Korecky threw the final two innings and gave up a run on four hits and a walk. Randy Ruiz led the offense, going 3-4 with an RBI. Garrett Jones went 2-5 with his 17th double. Darnell McDonald and Sergio Santos each had two hits.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
Monday – New Britain No Game Scheduled.

FT MYERS MEMOS
Monday
– Ft. Myers 6, Vero Beach 4Deolis Guerra improved to 7-2 on the season and there was one very important statistic that showed improvement in this one. The righty went the first 6.1 innings and gave up three runs on nine hits. He walked just one and struck out two. Now, the walks are the number that have been alarming, so it is great to see that number down. Frank Mata then went a scoreless inning. Anthony Slama got the final five outs, four of them on strikeouts, to record his 11th save. The offense used just five hits to score their six runs. But one of those hits was a grand slam off of the bat of Edward Ovalle in the 5th inning. Eli Tintor hit his second homer of the season the same inning.

BELOIT BITS
Monday – Beloit 6, Cedar Rapids 5 - Ben Revere and his three hit games were back in the fold in this game. He went 3-4 with his 20th stolen base. Steve Singleton was also 3-4. Michael Tarsi started and gave up three runs on six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out seven. Steve Hirschfeld came in and gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in one innings, and it earned him a Win in this game. Loek Van Mil got five outs without allowing a run, and Matt Williams came in with runners on and got the final out to record his sixth save.

Have a great week!
