American Idol Thoughts
Hey ya'll! I just finished watching American Idol. It was good to hear that they were able to raise almost $70 million for charities. But to the contest at hand. It was Bon Jovi night and we have to remember that tomorrow night two contestants will be eliminated (because none were last week). It should be an interesting vote to say the least. I have to start with an admission. When I was in junior high and high school, I never was a Bon Jovi fan. Let me correct myself. I never admitted to being a Bon Jovi fan. And yet, all these years later, I can sing along and really enjoy many of his (or their) songs. So, it was really an enjoyable night of listening for me. I actually thought five of the six performers really did very well, and even the person I ranked 6th tonight was not horrible. So, here are my rankings with some brief thoughts following. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the show and predictions for elimination.
6.) Jordin Sparks - Livin' on a Prayer - Yeah, to me, she is the second best singer in this competition, but this type of music is definitely not good for her voice. Not good at all.
5.) Phil Stacy - Blaze of Glory - I actually thought he was very good last night. So again, this ranking says more about the rest of the contestants.
4.) Lakisha Jones - This Ain't a Love Song - A song I didn't even know. I wasn't expecting to like it or for her to do well. I loved it and she was terrific!
3.) Chris Richardson - Wanted Dead of Alive - I actually thought he was excellent. I pretty much think he has about a 10% chance of being around next week, but the way he performed tonight is definitely the way you would want to go out.
2.) Melinda Doolittle - Have a Nice Day - Again, I didn't know the song, but knowing Melinda's talent level, I still thought she would do well. She showed a lot. I liked the attitude!
1.) Blake Lewis - You Give Love a Bad Name - A recognizable song was probably good enough to advance, but he took a risk and it paid off big. That was entertaining and again, it is something that the show has not seen in the past. The kid is talented, but he is also just a great musical mind.
So, there are my American Idol Thoughts for tonight. I would love to hear you thoughts or comments on any of them. Please feel free to agree or disagree and let me know why. Send me an e-mail.
