More Thoughts

Good morning everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! I was going to bash it as a commercial holiday meant only to benefit flower shops and card making companies and the fine folks and Hersheys and M&Ms! But I probably should be careful in making such opinionated statements!

Anyway, today again, I am just going to be brief and make a few quick comments. I promise, unless something strange happens, tomorrow I will post my NL East Hitters Projections. There are a lot of high profile hitters in that division, so you'll want to check that out!

Thanks to Aaron Gleeman for the link yesterday! Do I really use a lot of exclamation points?!!??!!!! I don't know! Maybe I do use to many! Oh well, it's a problem I have always had!

The Winter Olympics. Wow, I make a couple of comments about how I don't think that they are watch-able, and it created the record for Comments on this site! Let me first say that obviously these athletes are great athletes and work as hard at their crafts as the people who participate in sports and activities that I do enjoy watching. I just personally don't understand the allure in watching some of them. IN MY OPINION... Figure skating is not very exciting (but I understand that there is a less subjective judging method). Other sports are just strange. I mean, who came up with the Biathlon. It is a combination of cross-country skiing and gun shooting. That sounds to me like a survival skill, not a sport. I have to assume that is the origin of the sport. Anyway, what are the events of the Winter Olympics that you do enjoy? What would you encourage me to watch, and why? Again, feel free to leave more comments below.

For what it's worth, however, right now I don't think that the Timberwolves are watch-able either.

So, my thinking that the Twins are in trouble without a new stadium deal is gaining some momentum. I remember when the last collective bargaining was signed, there was a note in there saying that Major League Baseball could bring up Contraction again in 2007, without support of the Players Association. Let's put two and two together. I think that the Marlins and Twins are prime candidates for contraction.

Is it just me, or is Minneapolis really not a small market? If you look at the urban population of the major cities around the world, Minneapolis comes in 65th. If you look at just the United States, the Minneapolis market ranks 12th. Not 25th. Not 30th. 12th. So, I do get tired of the whole small market perception. That said, I would never want to be a fan of a large market team. I prefer to watch the Twins develop their own players.

Seriously, how good is Grey's Anatomy?

Hey, Buck Martinez and Team USA will announce its 30 man roster for the WBC. Should be an interesting list. What are your opinion on the WBC? It is an intriguing tournament, but please, don't tell me that it is more than an exhibition. Of course, the players will go out and try their best while they are in there. In theory, I like the concept of the world-wide tournament. In reality, if Johan Santana, Carlos Silva, Juan Rincon, Justin Morneau, Jesse Crain, Joe Nathan, Paul Rutgers, Alexander Smit or Trent Oeltjen get hurt, my opinion on the tournament will be a lot more one-sided.

Are there any other topics that you would discuss, let me know. Send me an e-mail, or make some Comments below. Thanks and have a great day!
