Site Update
Hey all, it's been a couple of days since I last posted, so I thought a quick site update would be good. First, I have been up in Warroad the last two days for work. But I am now back in the Metro. Like I said before, I am working on a few different postings. I will definitely have something more tomorrow. I will also be posting this week's playoff football picks sometime on Friday. I also have a couple of bigger, feature type postings that I'm doing a little research on. I'm about ready to post one half of it, with the other half likely coming a couple of days later. So please remain patient! Thank you!
According to this Joe Christensen article, the Mets may now be the favorite in the Johan Santana ongoing saga. According to the article, the Mets are willing to give up 18 year old pitcher Deolis Guerra, Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Carlos Gomez. He also notes that the Twins have said that if Fernando Martinez is added to the offer, the deal will be completed. And Twins fans everywhere can move on!! Please!!! (Note - Over New Years, I posted my thoughts on the Mets Prospects.)
On Christensen's blog today, he also wrote about the Twins draft selections in the next draft, and there is a very good discussion. As I commented there, it is vital that the Twins use the money that they will be "saving" in 2008 to take the best available player on their draft board for each of those picks and sign them regardless. The only way to sustain competitiveness is to build from within.
It was nice to see Bert Blyleven jump from 47% of the vote a year ago to
receiving about 62% of the vote this year. I don't think Jim Rice is
worthy of a Hall of Fame spot and think that is a great illustration of East
Coast bias. If he had played in Montreal or Minnesota, he would be nowhere near
the necessary 75% And the fact that Tim Raines got just 24% of the vote
is another ridiculous thing in this process.
Is it really possible that Wayne Krivski and the Reds are willing to give up Homer Bailey, Joey Votto, Johnny Cueto and one more player for Erik Bedard?? And I thought the M's willingness to give up Adam Jones for the O's lefty was crazy!
Will there ever be another 300 game winner?
John Gordon, Jesse Crain and hometown heroes Tommy Watkins and Carmen Cali are "caravaning" southwest Florida for the Twins. The Upper Midwest portion of the Twins Winter Caravan schedule starts next week and will be the next two weeks. If any of you are able to attend one of these events, please tell me about it. Finally, the final weekend of the month is Twins Fest. I plan to attend much of the time and would enjoy meeting people. Please e-mail me if you plan to attend at all and we will keep in touch on the best way to do that. If you do attend and go through the autograph lines, be sure to mention the site and thank those players who have participated in Q&As or football picks or other things here.
With that, I bid you adieu. Have a great day, and keep any ideas or topics running through the comment, or please feel free to e-mail me.
